Bishop Diego to play top-seeded team at home

Bishop Diego won a coin-flip to get a home game against top-seeded Oxford Academy in the second round of the CIF Division 6 baseball playoffs on Tuesday.The Cardinals (13-7) will be facing a team with a record of 23-2 and a batting average of .308.Dos Pueblos also will be home on Tuesday, thanks to its 5-4 upset at top-seeded Cypress in Division 2. Bishop Diego's Shannon Slaught finished the Mt. Yokubaitis fires one-hitter to lead Bishop in league opener

Cody Yokubaitis pitched a one-hitter, and Bishop Diego erupted for four runs in the seventh inning to beat Santa Clara 5-1 in a Frontier League baseball opener on Friday.Yokubaitis was hurt by a couple of errors in the first inning and fell behind 1-0. Bishop falls short in State Tournament opener

In a back-and-forth battle, Bishop Diego’s boys basketball team came out on the short end of a 73-70 decision against Fresno Christian in a Division 5 first-round game of the CIF State Tournament on Tuesday in Fresno.The Cardinals turned the ball during the fourth quarter and missed some crucial free throws down the stretch.
