George Kuesis and Felipe Carsalade scored four goals each in San Marcos’ season-opening 17-9 victory over Arroyo Grande on Thursday.
The Royals, ranked No. 4 in the preseason CIF-ss Division-4 poll, featured eight different goal scorers in the game. Adam Fuller, Ben Spievak and Jesse Morrison joined Kuesis and Carsalade with multi-goal performances. San Marcos was playing without Miles Cole, who is in Jamaica playing at the PanAm Championships with the USA Youth National Team.
San Marcos led 5-3 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 11-5 by halftime.
“I was proud of our intensity in our first game. We were able to get a lot of guys involved,” reported Royals head coach Jeff Ashton.
