BWP: Warriors can’t keep pace with Santa Ynez

Sam Pappas poured in eight goals, and Santa Ynez overpowered Carpinteria, 12-5, in a non-league boys water polo match on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, we were giving up a lot of size and experience today, as well as facing a solid goal keeper,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “We were unable to keep up with Santa Ynez’ scoring and at halftime we were down 7-3.”
The Warriors stepped up their game in third quarter, but Santa Ynez pulled away in the final period.
“I was very proud of our team’s defense through three quarters, for hanging in there and keeping the score manageable,” Swarm said. “We learned a lot today about our character and that will pay dividends in the future.”
