Hannah Koper (SBAC/SMHS/Brown) helped lead the US Women?s Water Polo team to Gold at the 19th Maccabiah Games held in Netanya, Israel this month. Koper and SBAC Girls Coach Connor Levoff joined 1,100 other U.S. athletes at the world?s third largest athletic event and the inaugural Maccabi Women?s Water Polo Tournament.

Levoff and Head Coach Doug Peabody led the U.S. women to a perfect 4-0 record defeating Brazil, Hungary, and Israel before re-rounding with Israel in the Gold Medal Game; a 14-5 victory for the U.S.

Peabody, Levoff, and Derek Borisoff also coached the U.S. Men?s team to their first Maccabi Gold Medal since 2001 and second since 1973. The tournament was valuable experience for SBAC?s Levoff working closely with Peabody whose heads San Diego Shores Water Polo Club and coached the U.S.A Junior Team in three World Championships.

Next weekend Levoff leads SBAC?s 16U Girls at the 2013 National Junior Olympics in Orange County. Koper will join SBAC?s 18U girls in their effort to win a second consecutive National JO title. She will play water polo for Brown University in the Fall.
