Buena and San Marcos needed overtime once again to decide a boys water polo match between the two schools.
In what would be the fourth straight head-to-head Channel League matchup that went to overtime, San Marcos edged Buena 14-11 on Tuesday.
The Royals (15-4, 2-2) have won all four dating back to last season.
They Royals took a 4-0 lead to start the game but Buena consistently chipped away until drawing even in the fourth quarter.
“We were happy to win the game, but felt after like we really almost let one slip away,” said Royals head coach Jeff Ashton.
Shane Hauschild’s five goals led all scorers. Kevyan Golizadeh came through with four. San Marcos goalie Parker Woodward collected 12 saves and scored a goal on a buzzer-beater in overtime.
The Royals play Dos Pueblos next.
