PHOTO GALLERY INTRO: The UCSB men’s water polo team claimed a runner-up result at the weekend’s SoCal Tournament, beating No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 Stanford in order to reach the championship match. The 11-10 victory over UCLA in the tournament’s semifinals was UCSB’s first over the Bruins since 1992.
“It was a huge win,” said UCSB head coach Wolf Wigo after the UCLA game. “It was probably the biggest win in UCSB water polo in 25 years.”
“We took down the No. 2 and 3 teams in the country (this weekend). To get one of those in a season is a pretty good deal.”
