Carpinteria High’s second-seeded girls tennis team defeated Yarbut V’Torah 16-2 on Wednesday in?the first round of the CIF Division 5 playoffs.
The Warriors (20-1) advance to play the winner of Duarte vs. Covina in Friday’s second round.
Erin Saito and Lesly Zapata dominated play on the doubles side. Carpinteria’s top doubles team won three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
In singles, the Warriors starters went 7-0. Kelsie Bryant and Kassandra Ni won two sets each at love before giving way to subs in the third round.
“We have had strong practices the past few days which helped in today’s win,” said Carpinteria head coach Charles Bryant.
