San Marcos’ boys water polo team matched its season-high with 19 goals in Tuesday’s 19-3 non-league win over Rio Mesa in the Royals’ pool.

“I was really pleased with the way we played today and Parker (Woodward) did a great job in the goal both blocking shots and feeding our counter attack,” said San Marcos head coach Jeff Ashton.

San Marcos, now 9-1 on the season, also scored 19 times against Palm Springs in the Riverside Tournament.

Woodward recorded 19 saves in the cage.

On offense, Emerson Pizzinat and Shane Hauschild led the team with four goals each. Spencer Kemp and Sean Nakano-West both added two apiece while eight Royals scored in total.

The Royals begin Channel League competition on Thursday in a home match with Dos Pueblos.
