Bummer, Palewicz carry torch to Forester victory

Starting pitcher Aaron Bummer was the first of five Forester pitchers who held the San Diego Force in check on Sunday as Santa Barbara won the non-league game 3-1.

The Foresters responded well after a 9-0 trouncing from San Diego on Saturday.

Limited to three innings because of an early-season pitch count, Bummer didn’t allow a run and only a single hit.

Dae Yang Kim, Nick Palewicz, Albert Minnis and Hunter Lemke combined to finish the job for Bummer. Palewicz, who recorded the win, struck out seven in four scoreless innings.

Santa Barbara took the lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Jacob Felts that scored Steven Reveles. Felts went 3-for-3 in the game with a pair of runs scored and the RBI.

Zach Fish, one of seven Foresters with hits, knocked in Santa Barbara’s second and third runs.

The Foresters (4-5, 2-1) take Monday off before hosting the San Luis Obispo Rattlers at home on Tuesday.
