Providence Hall receives 11th seed for CIF State Tournament

Providence Hall’s girls basketball team will travel to Central Valley Christian on Wednesday for the opening round of the CIF State Tournament, with the Lions qualifying as the 11th seed in the Division 5 bracket.

The Lions were runners-up in the Southern Section’s Division 6 this season in only their second year of sanctioned CIF competition. They lost to Orangewood Academy 34-31 on Saturday in their CIF title game. Orangewood received the fourth seed in the bracket and will host San Diego Section’s Vincent Memorial in the first round.

The bracket consists of 15 teams from Southern California and 14 from Northern California. The last two teams standing will meet in the title game on Saturday, March 24 in Sacramento’s Power Balance Pavilion (formerly known as Arco Arena).

Providence Hall (18-7) will travel to Visalia on Wednesday for the first-round game. Central Valley Christian (17-9) just won its second straight Central Section Division 5 championship in a 51-35 triumph over top-seeded Kings Christian.
