SANTA BARBARA TOC DAY ONE: Tuesday is the first day of the 2011 Tournament of Champions. Thirty-two teams are in Santa Barbara to compete in a Gold and Green Divisions.

Final Score: Yorba Linda 66, Santa Barbara 41.

Fourth Quarter: Yorba Linda 61, Santa Barbara 37.  4:50 left in the game.

Final: Los Alamitos 46, Menlo 41.  Yamada with 17 for Los Alamitos.  Edelman with 20 for Menlo.

Fourth Quarter: Yamada puts the game in the refrigerator with 2 free throws.  46-41 Los Alamitos, 3.9 seconds left.  Timeout Menlo.

Fourth Quarter: Donya Dehnad with the 3 from the corner.  44-41 Los Alamitos.  Timeout, 4.7 seconds left.

Fourth Quarter: Nomura makes both free throws. 44-38 Los Alamitos under 10 seconds.

Fourth Quarter: Los Alamitos up 4 with the ball.  17 seconds left.  Timeout Los Alamitos.  Menlo had two chances beyond the arc that both fell short.

Fourth Quarter: Dos Pueblos goes zone to stop the inside game.  Arroyo Grande takes their scoring outside the 3 point arc.  61-36 Arroyo Grande with 4 minutes left.

Fourth Quarter: Lauren Yamada with a long jumper from the corner.  Timeout Menlo.  42-38 Los Alamitos.  32 seconds left.

Fourth Quarter: Keiko Nomura with the long 3 point answer.  39-38 Los Alamitos.  1:20 left.

Fourth Quarter: Edelman gets her first point of the 4th quarter at the free throw line.  37-34 Menlo.  2:35 left, timeout Los Alamitos.

Fourth Quarter: Menlo 36, Los Alamitos 34.  Outside shots for both teams aren’t falling.  3:34 left.

End of Third Quarter: Dos Pueblos picks up full court to increase the tempo but it’s not working.  Too much size for AG, dominating the paint.  Arroyo Grande up 51-36.

Third Quarter: Yorba Linda 47, Santa Barbara 25.  Turnovers still plaguing the Dons.

Third Quarter: Arroyo Grande going inside, up 39-32 on Dos Pueblos with 3:30 left.

End of Third Quarter: Los Alamitos 34, Menlo 33.  Edelman with 18.

Third Quarter: Alyssa Tayenaka showing off her range with a deep 3, but Edelman comes right back with the and-one.  33-31 Menlo

Third Quarter: 29-28 Menlo, 3:31 left.  These two teams can really shoot the ball.  Edelman with 16 finishing with both hands all around the basket.

Third Quarter: Even the double team can’t stop Edelman.  24-23 Menlo.

Halftime: Yorba Linda 39, Santa Barbara 21.

Halftime: Dos Pueblos 25, Arroyo Grande 24.  Back-to-back 3 pointers by Chiara Dimarco and Jessica Escalante with a minute left in the half gave DP a 4 point lead, but the Eagles 3 point play cuts the lead to 1 at the break.

Halftime: Menlo 22, Los Alamitos.  Lauren Lete’s 3 pointer at the end of the have give’s Menlo their first lead.  Edelman has 12.

End of First Quarter: Yorba Linda 19, Santa Barbara 9.

End of First Quarter: Dos Pueblos vs. Arroyo Grande.  AG took 4-0 lead early, followed by a 7-0 Chargers run.  Jasmine Mata’s 3 pointer at the end of the quarter has Dos Pueblos up 15-12.

End of First Quarter: Los Alamitos 13, Menlo 11.

First Quarter: Yorba Linda up 9-6.  Turnovers hurting the Dons.

First Quarter: Los Alamitos quickness vs. Menlo’s size.  1 minute left and the quickness is on top.  13-7 Los Alamitos.

First Quarter: Ivette Gil gets the Dons going with a pair of baskets.  4-3 Santa Barbara.

First Quarter: Los Alamitos up 8-6, 3:37 on the clock.

Tip-off: Santa Barbara vs Yorba Linda (Gold Division).  Don’s down 3-0, very early.

Tip-off: Menlo vs. Los Alamitos (Green Division).  Menlo’s 6’4″ Center, Drew Edelman is averaging over 20 points per game.  These look to be two of the better teams in the Green Division.

SCORES, GREEN DIVISION: Orange Lutheran 46, Monroe 31.

Final: Pacifica 45, San Marcos 14.  Brooke Dixon finished with 12 points for Pacifica.  The Royals play Valencia at San Marcos at 12:3opm on Wednesday.

End of Third Quarter: Pacifica 36, San Marcos 12.

Halftime: Pacifica 26, San Marcos 9.  Brooke Dixon scored 10 points for Pacifica.  Darshana Dimmitt has 6 for the Royals.

End of First Quarter: Emily Dietz’s 3 from 25 feet is a clean swish at the buzzer.  Pacifica 15, San Marcos 5.  Brooke Dixon scored 6 for the Tritons.

First Quarter: Darshana Dimmitt has San Marcos on the scoreboard.  13-2 Pacifica with 1:30 left.

First Quarter: 7-0 Pacifica at 4:58.  Time-out by San Marcos Coach Devin Uyesaka.

Tip-off: San Marcos and Pacifica are underway.  Pacifica applying full court pressure early turning the Royals over twice.

Final Score: Vanessa Galvez’s lay-up ices it for Righetti in overtime, 50-47 over La Salle.  Mariah Cooks scored 22 for Righetti, but none in OT.  La Salle scored just 1 point in overtime, a free throw by Kandyce Smith who finished with 13.

Overtime: Justine Rowland of Righetti at the line shooting 2 leading 48-47.  1:45 left.

Overtime: La Salle and Righetti are tied at 46.  Fouls are taking their toll on both teams.  La Salle seems to have a deeper bench.

Fourth Quarter: La Salle misses a lay-up, Righetti rebounds and calls timeout with 1.6 seconds left. 46-46.

Fourth Quarter: Rebound, put-back by Diamond Ridley-Pierce gives La Salle the lead again 46-44.  32.3 seconds left.  Time-out La Salle.

Fourth Quarter: La Salle’s Kandyce Smith’s deep 3 pointer breaks a 39-39 tie with 2 minutes left.  Foul count for the second half is at 21.

LOCAL TEAMS: San Marcos will try for their first win of the season in about 25 minutes at the Maury Halleck Gymnasium against Pacifica.  Pacifica went 20-7 last season finishing first in the Pacific View League.

Final Score: Mira Costa 77, Willits 34.

Final Score: Bishop Montgomery 56, Bonita 43.  Devon Brookshire of Bishop Montgomery is the tournament’s high scorer right now with 26 points.  If Santa Barbara can knock off Yorba Linda today, they will face  Bishop Montgomery tomorrow night.

End of Third Quarter: La Salle 31, Righetti 28.  Referees called 18 fouls in a physical third quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Bishop Montgomery 49, Bonita 43.  3:30 to go in the game.

Final: Valencia 40, Providence Hall 36.  A pair of clutch free throws from Erica Robles puts the game out of reach.  Bethany Pan scored 11 for Valencia.  Valencia outscores Providence Hall 16-5 in the final period.  Lacey Gonzalez’s 12 and Elizabeth Beebe’s 10 weren’t enough for Providence Hall.

Fourth Quarter: Time-out, 38 seconds left with Valencia up 2 and the ball.  Providence Hall is struggling with the Tigers’ press: only 1 point in the last 4 minutes.

End of Third Quarter: Providence Hall 31, Valencia 24.  Lacey Gonzalez with an old-fashioned 3 point play and a driving lay-up from Sydney Hedges gives Providence Hall a 5-0 run to finish the quarter.

Third Quarter: 2 baskets in a row from Lizzy Beebe, Providence leads by 5.  Valencia having trouble with the Providence zone.

Halftime: Providence Hall 19, Valencia 18. Lacey Gonzalez with 10 points in the first half for the Lions.

Second Quarter: Nifty lay-up by Krystal Khuat for Valencia.  Providence Hall’s lead is down to 1.

FINAL: Ventura 58, Harvard-Westlake 34.  Megan Shank finished with 16 and Sam Meyer had 14 for Ventura. Natalie Florescu was the high scorer for Harvard-Westlake with 14.

End of Third Quarter: Ventura 37, Harvard-Westlake 27.  Natalie Florescu’s 3-pointer at the buzzer is good to bring the Wolverines within 10.
