Rams unable to keep pace in second half

A close game turned into a rout in the second half as the Cate boys water polo team, who trailed by a single goal at the midway point, allowed 11 consecutive goals and lost at home 14-3 to Villanova.

Sophomore Matthew Firestone was able to play limited minutes through an injury, helping the team defensively.  Miles Barney and Greg Cusack made their usual contributions and solid team defense led to 3-2 halftime score in favor of Villanova.

The Rams were unable to match the tempo that had been set in the first half, and Villanova cruised to an easy win.

Cate continues play tomorrow in Pasadena against Flintridge Prep.
