Defense dominates to keep Dos Pueblos undefeated in league play

The Dos Pueblos boys water polo team played lockdown defense at Ventura and held the Cougars to just four goals en route to a 7-4 victory.

“Our perimiter defense was solid and we were able to really limit Ventura’s shots in total,” Chargers coach Chris Parrish said.

When Ventura managed to create a shot, goalie Phillip Bates was there to stop it on most occasions. He finished the match with 12 saves.

Sjors Van Alphen and Blake Parrish led Dos Pueblos with three goals each, and Nic Lum was the other scorer.

Dos Pueblos (6-9 overall, 2-0 league, will host Santa Barbara on Thursday in a showdown between undefeated Channel League teams.
