Warriors get it going in the second period

Cole Gill tossed in six goals, and Carpinteria overcame a slow start to beat visiting Channel Islands 18-3 in a non-league boys water polo game on Tuesday.

The Warriors (5-9) led 2-1 after the first period.

“We started slow,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “We’re trying to get fast starts. We’re getting them in the second quarter.”

Ben O’Hara added four goals and Alan Chavez and Thomas Fly each chipped in three in the final tune-up before Tri-Valley League play. The Warriors open league at Nordhoff on Wednesday.
