San Marcos routs Oxnard behind Battles’ big day

Ben Battles had four goals and two assists for San Marcos, which shut out Oxnard in the first half on its way to a 16-3 home water polo victory on Tuesday.

Battles was helped by three goals from Shane Hauschild, and two goals each from Spencer Kemp, Kam Bebb, and Keyvan Golizadeh.  Goalie Parker Woodward had 11 saves in the Royals’ all-around dominant performance against an Oxnard team they had been unable to beat in recent years.

“They came out with a lot of energy and distributed the ball really well, getting everybody involved in the game,” head coach Jeff Ashton said about his team.

San Marcos will start play in the Riverside Invitiational this Thursday.
