Carpinteria starts fast, finishes strong

The Carpinteria high boys water polo team scored four goals in the first and fourth quarters, and got four goals each from Alan Chavez and Ben O’Hara in an 11-7 victory over Hueneme at home.

“We keep starting slow and sometimes it’s costing us some wins,” Warriors head coach Bryan Swarm said.  “I just wanted to try to start fast.”

Dylan Hathaway contributed two more goals for Carpinteria, and Cole Gill was the other goal-scorer.  Jacob Pate added to an excellent preseason with another fine performance in which he had 10 saves.

“He’s rolling for us this year,” Swarm said about his goalie.

Carpinteria plays next this Friday and Saturday in the Malibu Tournament.
