Dons home, Chargers away for Regionals

Santa Barbara’s just-crowned boys soccer team was given the No. 1 seed in the CIF Southern California Regional playoff on Sunday, drawing Arleta for a Tuesday home-playoff game at 4 p.m.

Dos Pueblos, runner-up to the Dons, was bumped into the Division-I bracket and will travel to its No. 1 seed, Stockdale, for another Tuesday clash at 4 p.m. Stockdale is a Central Section champ with a 13-5-5 record.

Santa Barbara’s opponent comes from the Los Angeles City Section. The Mustangs (11-4-2) lost to Div.-I four-seed San Fernando (19-2-2), a team the Chargers would play in the regional remifinal if they could pull off another upset.

If both the Dons and Chargers win, the same scenario would play out in the semifinal round in that Santa Barbara would be at home and Dos Pueblos would be on the road. Host school is decided by seeding in the first two rounds before Saturday’s finals at Warren High School.
