Top-ranked Chargers open by beating No. 7 CDM

Despite missing starters Kiley Neushul and Amanda Redfern, the top-ranked Dos Pueblos girls water polo team managed to take down No. 7 Corona del Mar in the Sea Queens’ waters on Friday, 7-5, in a rematch of last year’s CIF championship match.

Freshman Jamie Neushul put away a pair of goals in her high school debut, and Tiera Schroeder and Kodi Hill each added a pair as well. Hill added five steals and three field blocks while Schroeder drew five ejections.

UCLA-bound goalie Sami Hill had 12 saves in the cage for DP (1-0).

“I thought the girls did a really good job adjusting to the fact that we had two starters missing. I was really proud of the four girls who scored,” said coach Danelle Little.

Alex Hill added the Chargers’ other goal.
