Ex-Royals team up to win S.B. Golf Classic

A couple of former San Marcos golfers teamed up and found success at Santa Barbara Golf Club over the weekend, as Brett Morman and Albert Corral won the 49th Santa Barbara Golf Classic, a two-player better-ball competition.

The duo finished a stellar 15-under par with a 61 on Saturday and a 64 on Sunday. Morman currently plays for St. Mary’s College in Moraga, while Corral just finished a successful freshman campaign with SBCC.

Coming in second were a duo of Bishop Diego alums, John Gilles and Brandon Gama. The Cardinal twosome win the A-Flight over local veterans John Pate and UCSB golf coach Steve Lass.

Another local winner was Frank Gonzles of the Santa Barbara Men’s Club, who teamed up with Oscar Payen to win the C Flight.
