Girls fast-pitch softball teams from all over central California will converge on Elings Park this weekend to compete in the ASA Western Nationals qualifying tournament.Co-hosted by the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association, the tournament will feature more than 50 teams in age groups 10-under, 12U and 14U. The Goleta Valley Girls Softball Thunder, a 12-under all-star team, went 5-0 and outscored its opponents 58-12 to win the Paso Robles TournamentThe Thunder got solid pitching and hitting from Delaney Smith, Malia Carrasco and Chloe Matson. Lindsay Rose Memorial goes to Goleta Thunder

The Goleta Thunder 12U girl’s softball team captured the Lindsay Rose Memorial Tournament in Goleta over the past weekend. They won both their pool play games on Saturday and then won 3 straight on Sunday beating Newbury Park in the finals to take the championship. Dos Pueblos High junior softball pitcher Hannah Harris is having a busy summer with her club team, the SoCal Jets U18 based in Westlake. The team recent traveled to the Colorado Sparkler 18U Showcase to play in front of hundreds of college scouts.The Jets won, the whole darn thing, beating a field of 120 teams. Goleta’s 12U Thunder went undefeated for the second weekend in a row to claim back to back tournament titles.They won five straight in Arroyo Grande to win the Five Cities championship on the weekend of June 19 and then went undefeated this past weekend to win the Santa Maria Qualifier Tournament.The bats really came alive in the last tournament with a combined team batting average close to .400. The 12-and-under Thunder All-Stars from the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association took first place at this weekend's Five Cities Softball Tournament.The team went undefeated on Saturday and Sunday to take the 12U division championship, beating Santa Maria in the final 8-0. Goleta outscored their opponents 42-1 in five games over the weekend.
