The San Marcos girls water polo team won a pair of matches at the Villa Park tournament on Thursday over Warren and Troy.
The first game ended in a 15-5 decision, four goals of which were scored by Brittany Prentice, who recorded a game high. Fiona Kuesis added three goals of her own for San Marcos while Sophia Trumbull blocked 11 shots in goal.
The momentum gained in the first game carried over in the second, as the Royals got of to a 7-0 start against Troy. They later prevailed 13-5 behind the dominant offensive performance of Kuesis and Kate Coski, who combined to tally six of the Royals’ 13 goals. Lili Akin made a significant contribution defensively, snatching away five steals in the second game alone.
San Marcos will face Huntington Beach Oilers at 6 p.m. Friday.
