Kendra Carr poured in five goals and SBCC played superior defense on Friday to beat Cuesta 9-4 in the WSC Women’s Water Polo Tournament semifinals at L.A. Valley College.
Nicole Cosares added two goals and Mackenzie Richards made 14 saves for the defending WSC champion Vaqueros (18-12, 7-1), who’ve won five in a row.
Santa Barbara, the No. 2 seed, will take on No. 1 L.A. Valley (17-6, 8-0) for the WSC championship on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. The Monarchs won the first meeting between the teams 12-11 in sudden-death overtime.
“Addison Seale got two ejections in the first two minutes and if she got a third, she would have been out of the game,” said coach Chuckie Roth. “She played the whole game without getting another one.
“We showed a lot of composure and played great defense against a team with two talented offensive players. This was a great team win.”
