Buchanan and San Marcos shined on Friday afternoon at the Dos Pueblos Invitational, a meet that had fewer runners than planned because major traffic delays on the 101 freeway kept several teams from arriving in time.

Buchanan won the team sweepstakes while San Marcos won the junior girls race and finished second in several others. The Dos Pueblos Invitational is held at Shoreline Park and has separate races for each grade.

Erica Schroeder’s time in the junior girls race, 17:57, was the fastest girls time for any grade and a personal best.

Dos Pueblos didn’t race its top runners but turned in a handful of top-20 results. Seniors Gina Herrin and Ivan Ricardo were 11th in their respective jaunts.
