SBCC built halftime leads in all three women’s water polo games on Saturday in its Halloween Tournament at Santa Barbara High. The Vaqueros led Hancock 9-3 at the half and went on to capture the WSC morning contest 14-4.
Later in the day, the Vaqueros knocked off Saddleback 10-6 and Southwestern 12-4.
SBCC finishes the regular season with a 17-12 record and takes 2nd in the WSC regular season at 6-1, a game behind unbeaten L.A. Valley. The Vaqueros will defend their conference title in the WSC Tournament, starting Friday at L.A. Valley.
Lili Talkin scored a season-high five goals with two assists and two steals in the Hancock game while Sarah Dolan and Reese Ellestad had two goals apiece. The Vaqueros jumped ahead 5-2 at half and 8-3 after three periods en route to the 10-6 win over Saddleback. Mackenzie Perez had a hat trick and Addison Seale, Nicole Cosares and Kendra Carr scored two apiece. Mackenzie Richards made eight saves in the cage.
The Vaqueros led 6-2 at halftime of the third game vs. Southwestern. Charissa Dorn had three goals and three steals and Ellestad scored twice.
“It’s great to get three wins in one day,” said coach Chuckie Roth. “All our team members were impactful with Dorn, Talkin and Ellestad leading the way. I was so proud of our team’s improvement this season. Every player has made huge strides in and out of the water.
“We are in great position entering the conference tournament. We have great chemistry and enjoy each other immensely.”
