Kendra Carr continued her offensive onslaught on Friday, scoring a season-high six goals in SBCC’s 7-6 women’s water polo win over Cypress and three more in a 15-3 rout of San Diego Miramar on the first day of the Ventura Tournament.
Carr, a freshman from Mill Valley, Calif., has 19 goals in her last four games.
The Vaqueros (11-7) have won six straight games. They took a slim 4-3 lead over Cypress into the final quarter, then scored three straight to take a 7-3 advantage. Addison Seale had six steals.
In the afternoon game at the Ventura Aquatic Center, Nicole Cosares tallied four goals, Carr had three and Maddie Brooks and Mackenzie Perez scored two apiece. Mackenzie Richards made seven saves.
“It was a good day for us, we improved a lot,” said coach Chuckie Roth. “Kendra Carr was a great offensive threat and Richards and Seale played great defense.”
The Vaqueros will play a pair of top-ranked teams on Saturday. They’ll take on Mt. SAC (12-2) at 9:40 a.m. and defending state champ Fullerton (14-2) at noon.
