Ventura running back Broc Mortensen rushed for three touchdowns in the first quarter and four in the game, powering the Cougars to a 49-7 win over San Marcos at Warkentin Stadium on Friday night.
The Cougars are now 2-0 in Channel League play and 4-4 overall. San Marcos, playing its league opener, falls to 1-6 for the season.
Running behind an overpowering offensive line, Mortensen rushed for 102 yards on only 9 carries.
Christian Shaffer had punt return for a touchdown for Ventura.
