SB Youth Rugby tabs Galante as head coach

Forrest Galante has been named head coach for Santa Barbara Youth Rugby for the 2015-2016 season

Galante, an internationally renowned diver and TV adventurer, will take the role of head coach for the Santa Barbara Stingrays. He will be joined by a host of accomplished rugby coaches, including Isaac Hirsch, Maury Hayashida, Cody Nielson, Rhys Williams, Nick Conn, Tim Ahern, Richard Lotz and Robert Hann, with added support from the Rugby Academy team members, coached by Kevin Battle.

“Forrest is such an asset to the program. The kids love him and respect him and the parents trust him as a mentor for their children,” said Hann. “Forrest gets the players to play both with their heart and their head with great success.”

The Stingrays youth team is entering its fourth season. The program has grown to five age group teams with U-18, U-16, U-14 U-12 and U-10 programs. The teams practice at Elings Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Boys and girls from age 8 through high school are all welcomed. The kids are trained in groups broken out by age and skill.
