Carpinteria pulled away in the fourth quarter of Friday’s cross-town clash with Carpinteria and pocketed a 13-7 victory.
It was an 8-6 game when Cate’s head coach received a red card at the beginning of the fourth quarter, giving the Warriors a penalty shot. Carpinteria converted the free look and went on to score five of the game’s final six goal.
Warriors goalie Maclaine Clayton did his part, saving 18 shots. Junior Sal Briceno battled foul trouble but still led the team with five goals and four assists. Sophomore Jordan Perez and junior Eric Thornbourgh added two goals each.
