The rankings stayed true to form on Friday as Malibu defeated Carpinteria, 12-8, in a Tri-Valley League water-polo match.
The Sharks are the No. 3 team in Division 4 while the Warriors are No. 9. After a low-scoring first quarter that saw Malibu take a 1-0 lead, the Sharks opened up a multi-goal lead in the second quarter and led 5-2 at half.
The third quarter and fourth quarter were fairly even as Malibu added one goal to their advantage in the third quarter.
Wyatt Stevenson was Carpinteria’s top goal scorer with four. Eric Thornburgh recorded a team-high in assists with six and also drew three ejections. Forrest Van Stein collected seven steals on defense and goalie MacClaine Clayton tallied 14 saves.
