The San Marcos boys water polo team opened the Villa Park Classic with a pair of wins on Thursday.
The Royals routed Canyon 17-5 and came back to beat King 19-10. They play host Villa Park on Friday.
Ten players scored in the win over Canyon, led by Felipe Carsalade’s five goals. Miles Cole, Jesse Morrison and Ben Spievak each scored two goals. Goalie Jack Palmer had 12 saves.
Spencer Wood fired in six goals and Cole added four against King. Morrison, George Kuesis and Adam Fuller each scored two goals and Palmer made 11 saves.
The Royals improve to 8-4
