Bishop rolls to 6th straight win

Mike Soracco ran for four touchdowns and AV Bennett returned an interception 82 yards for a score, powering Bishop Diego to a 48-14 non-league football win over View Park of the L.A. City Section at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Cardinals improve to 6-0 with one more non-league game remaining against Central Section power Immanuel of Reedley on Friday at SBCC.

Soracco, who formerly played in the L.A. City Section at Eagle Rock High, scored on runs of 13 and 4 yards to give Bishop a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Cardinals continued to pound the ball with Soracco and he scored his third touchdown on a 9-yard run for a 21-0 lead going into halftime.

Matt Shotwell got into the act as he scored on a 2-yard touchdown run for a 28-0 lead in the third quarter.

View Park got on the scoreboard on a 36-yard pass play. It failed on a 2-point conversion, leaving the scored 28-6.

Bishop responded with another touchdown drive, capped by Soracco’s 3-yard run. Jack Luckhurst kicked his fifth PAT to make it 35-6.

The Cardinal defense got into the scoring act as Bennett picked off a View Park pass, turned on the jets and raced 82 yards for the score near the end of the third quarter.

After View Park scored on a 50-yard pass play and a 2-point conversion, sophomore David Solis broke off a 20-yard touchdown run to finish the scoring.
