Jones was honored Monday as the school’s recipient of the Phil Womble Ethics in Sports Award. He was presented the prestigious award at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Jones helps youth basketball players at the Providence basketball camp and at the YMCA.

“He goes back to the YMCA and he watches those kids and stays in part of their life,” Providence athletic director and basketball coach Steve Stokes said.

Jones also donates time at the Trinity Gardens, a community garden where people grow food.

“He’s the perfect student-athlete you want, and I’m fortunate enough to coach him during basketball season,” said Stokes.

Jones also plays volleyball.

“He’s a stand-up guy year round,” the coached added. “He gives and he doesn’t expect anything in return. That’s what makes him a special person.”
