Newbury Park’s passing attack too much for DP

Newbury Park sophomore quarterback Cameron Rising threw seven touchdown passes in the first half, and the Panthers overwhelmed Dos Pueblos, 56-12, in a non-league football game on Friday.

Rising’s performance tied a Ventura County record for touchdown passes in a game. His first pass of the game was an 85-yard scoring play to Andrew Noble. Four of his first five completions went for scores as the Panthers jumped out to a 28-6 lead in the first quarter.

Rising finished 16 of 24 for 426 yards.

Dos Pueblos moved the ball, gaining 414 yards in total offense. But the Chargers (1-3) were hurt by four turnovers.

Irvin Miguel had a 15-yard touchdown run for DP, set up by a 36-yard run by Manny Nwosu. Chargers quarterback Kellen Roberts threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Marcellous Gossett for the other score.

Dos Pueblos is at Lompoc next Friday.
