Dons ranked 5th in CIF football poll

Santa Barbara High’s football team has cracked the top-10 in the latest CIF Western Division poll.

The Dons are ranked fifth after posting lopsided wins over Hueneme and Santa Maria. They’ll face another newcomer to the rankings in their home opener on Friday night. Channel Islands comes into Peabody Stadium at No. 9 after wins over Nordhoff and Fillmore.

In the Northern Division poll, Bishop Diego came from behind to beat San Diego Section Small Schools power Santa Fe Christian for its second straight win, but was dropped from fourth to ninth.
