Host schools Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos each suffered a pair of defeats on Friday at the Santa Barbara Invitational.
The Dons, having won their opening match on Thursday, were matched up against top-seeded Mater Dei in the second round and lost 18-0. Mater Dei, champions of the tournament in three of the past four years, went on to win its quarterfinal match over Newport Harbor 18-3.
The Dons then fell to Campolindo, 12-5, in their next match and will play in the 13th-place bracket on Saturday. Jack Rottman drew three ejections in that game while Connor O’Keefe’s highlight goal in the fourth quarter led five different players scoring.
Santa Barbara faces Santa Margarita at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos lost to Gunn, 18-12, and to Laguna Beach, 15-6. On Thursday, the Chargers fell to Santa Margarita, 17-12, in their season opener. Dylan Elliott has led Dos Pueblos in scoring in every game, averaging 4.33 goals. Quinn Peacock has averaged three goals so far.
The Chargers take on Cerritos on Saturday at 10:05 a.m.
