Jesse Morrison scored six times on Saturday to lead San Marcos over Mira Costa, 11-8, in a matchup of top-10 teams in CIF Division 2.
The No. 4 Royals took a one-goal lead into halftime and extended their lead in each of the final two quarters over the No. 6 Mustangs.
Morrison is returning from a microfracture in his back and gave Royals head coach Jeff Ashton more than he asked for. Ashton credited Spencer Wood for his play on both sides of the pool. Wood scored four goals and Adam Fuller scored once. Jack Palmer made six saves in the cage.
San Marcos plays next at the Santa Barbara Invite on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
