Santa Margarita bested Dos Pueblos’ boys water polo team on Thursday, 12-7, in the first round of the South Coast Tournament.
Dylan Elliott posted a team-high three goals while Taylor Gustafson and Quinn Peacock scored two each. The Chargers were happy to see starting goalkeeper Ben Cable play his first match of the season and record eight saves.
It was the second meeting of the season for the two non-league opponents. Santa Margarita, ranked No. 9 in Division 1, defeated Dos Pueblos two weeks ago, 17-12, in the first round of the Santa Barbara Invitational.
Dos Pueblos (1-5) faces University on Friday in its next match.
