San Marcos cleaned up with Athlete of the Week honors at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Distance runner Adilene Aldapa and baseball player Sean Nakano-West received the honors for their performances over the weekend. Nakano-West threw a two-hit shutout and drove in a run in the Royals’ 3-0 Channel League victory over league-leading Ventura. It was Ventura’s first loss in league and the first win for San Marcos.

The San Jose State-bound Aldapa competed the distance double at the Arnie Robertson Invitational Track and Field meet in San Diego on Saturday. Aldapa won the 1600 in 5:11.21 and the 3200 in 11:27.

The honorable mention choices for the week include Rachelle Visser (SBCC swimming), John Harris and Luca Jordano (Bishop Diego volleyball), Spencer Ekola (Bishop Diego tennis), Brandon Evans (SBCC baseball) and Jake Ledbetter (SBCC golf).

The Athlete of the Week honorees from the previous week were UCSB baseball pitcher Justin Jacome and San Marcos track & field athlete Courtney Clyde. Jacome struck out 12 in a 3-1 over Long Beach State and lowered his ERA to 2.03. Clyde won the long jump, triple jump and high jump, helping the Royals beat Ventura in a Channel League dual meet.
