San Marcos won three matches in pool play at the Redondo Tournament on Friday to make Saturday’s championship bracket.
The Royals topped Torrance 25-21, 25-17, Carson 25-23, 25-15, and san Gabriel 25-8, 22-25, 15-6.
Jake Pighetti’s 19 kills led the team, followed by Kevin Peterson with 16 and Ian McClain with 15.
“The team played well and I got to see them start playing as a team instead of individuals on a court,” said head coach Jon Newton.
