The tennis teams from San Marcos and Dos Pueblos battled neck and neck on Wednesday to a 9-9 draw, settled on a 74-68 tiebreaker in favor of the Chargers.

Dos Pueblos rallied from a 7-5 deficit at the start of the final round to earn the Channel League victory. Miles Baldwin topped Lars Scannell 7-5 in the final set of the match to make it a 9-9 final.

The Chargers were boosted by the return of Joshua Wang and Quinn Hensley, who had missed DP’s previous matches. Wang partnered with Bryce Ambrose to sweep three sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-0, while Hensley and Vincent Villano won two sets together 6-0, 6-1.

Kento Perera gave the Royals a big advantage at No. 1 singles as the reigning Channel League champion breezed to three set wins.

The result pushes Dos Pueblos to 2-1 in the league standings while San Marcos falls to 1-2.

The Chargers, 6-3 overall, won their second straight league match after an 18-0 shutout of Buena on Tuesday. DP plays next on Monday against San Luis Obispo.
