Carpinteria’s bid for a share of the Tri-Valley League girls water polo title came to an end in a tough 16-4 loss at Foothill Tech on Friday.
Carpinteria played even with the league-leading Dragons, but a second-quarter lapse cost it seven goals and ultimately the game.
With the defeat, the Warriors fall to 7-2 in league play, still occupying second place and well positioned for a run into the CIF post-season.
Juniors Brenda Rodriguez and Kimmy Methmann combined with freshman Lili Castillo for the Warrior goals.
Carpinteria will host cross-town rival Cate on Wednesday for the final game of Tri-Valley League play.
