San Marcos placed fourth for its highest finish in program history at the 32-team Southern California Championships on Saturday.
The Royals dropped a 16-5 decision against top-ranked Laguna Beach in the semifinals and fell to third-ranked Newport Harbor, 9-3, in the third-place match.
Paige Hauschild and goalie Jenna Phreaner were named all-tournament team. Hauschild scored three goals against Laguna Beach and had three steals and goal in the Newport match.
Megan Bergthold and Brittany Prentice each scored one goal in the semifinals. Bergthold and Kate Coski had goals against Newport Harbor.
