San Marcos began the SoCal Championships with a pair of double-digit victories on Thursday. The Royals topped Canyon 14-3 before taking down Santa Margarita 16-6.
San Marcos, ranked No. 6 in CIF Division 1, will face No 4 Corona del Mar in Friday’s quarterfinals in Irvine.
Kelsey Gellert and Lili Roke Akin led the Royals with three goals each in the first game while Paige Hauschild collected six scores against Santa Margarita. Freshman Piper Smith scored in both games.
