Dos Pueblos had to deal with a weird circumstance in its second-round girls water polo game at the Southern California Championships on Thursday.
The Chargers beat Agoura 8-7 but were notified by officials after the game there was an error in the scorebook in the third period and the game had to be replayed starting at that point.
“We had to wait an hour and replay the third and fourth periods,” DP coach Chris Parrish.
The Chargers prevailed after the replay by a score of 8-7. They won their opening-round game against the Laguna Beach B squad 11-5.
Thea Neushul and Jordan Williams each had two goals in the Agoura game. Ryann Neushul drew three ejections and Petra Huebner had seven blocks and “played an outstanding game,” said Parrish.
The Chargers spread the scoring around in the opener, with Thea Neushul, Whitney Steidl, Toni Shackelford and Olivia Kistler all scoring two goals. Ryann Neushul had four assists and earned six ejections, including two that resulted in penalty shots.
Dos Pueblos (15-7) plays third-ranked Newport Harbor in the quarterfinals on Friday.
