A second-half rally came up short for Carpinteria’s girls water polo team on Tuesday in the wild-card round of the CIF Division 7 playoffs. The Warriors fell 11-8 to visiting Don Lugo.
Carpinteria fell behind 7-2 in the first half but clawed back to 10-8 in the fourth quarter behind the play from Brenda Rodriguez and Allison Wagner. Rodriguez received extra defensive attention from Don Lugo but still managed to score all eight of the Warriors’ goals.
Carpinteria finished second in the Tri-Valley League this season.
