GSoc: Chargers spark late comeback, overcome Righetti 5-2

After a scoreless first half and a struggling defensive effort, the Dos Pueblos girls soccer team bounced back to score five unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory over Righetti in a CIF matchup on Thursday.

Both of Righetti’s goals were scored in the opening eight minutes, and the remainder of the half remained scoreless. However the Chargers were electric offensively in the second half after Ady Willett slotted one inside the near post off a beautifully-placed pass from Rachel Uyesaka. DP’s first strike ignited a scoring frenzy.

Dos Pueblos’ second goal came in 62nd minute when Marissa Bonn fit one in past the keeper off a long throw from Malia Morales.

The Chargers’ momentum continued as Anya Schmitz battled to retrieve a ball in the box and was able to finish only 4 minutes after the previous goal.

The next time it was Morales doing the scoring as she was able to pound one in with her head on a feed from Kiara Pickett. Pickett tallied the final goal on the day to complete a 5-2 demolition.

The Chargers will now advance to the next round of CIF.
