Carpinteria broke down Centennial in the second half on Friday.

Carpinteria unleashed a four-goal torrent in the second half on Friday to quash visiting Centennial 4-0 in a first-round CIF Division 4 game.

Despite pressing forward in the first half, the Warriors failed to affect the scoreboard. That all changed in the second 40 minutes starting with Oscar Trujillo’s bending shot off a pass from Diego Contreras.

Benjie Garcia made it 2-0 in the 56th minute by converting a free kick from 25 yards out. Giovanni Rodriguez kept it going in the 70th minute by finishing a pass from Victor Saldaña. Cristian Chacon completed the final score on an unassisted goal.

Lalo Delgado recorded three saves for the shutout.

“Our boys recognize the road ahead is unpredictable and we will prepare to the best of our ability to compete in this tough division,” reported Warriors head coach Leonardo Quintero. “Four goals from four different players speaks on point about who and what we are. Warriors “Unidos”.”
