The Royals took a 35-22 lead at halftime and held Firebaugh to five points in the third quarter to build a 47-27 lead going into the final period.

“The third quarter was huge for us,” said Royals head coach Landon Boucher. “We got back to defending like our normal selves by holding them to five points in the quarter. Our offense was good because we shared the ball and continued to move it all night long. Very impressed with how unselfish this group of guys are.”

Everman added eight rebounds and four blocks. Kele Mkpado scored 10 points and Ryan McCarthy had nine.

Firebaugh’s Aaron Gibson led all scorers with 20 points. The Falcons end their season with a 16-9 record.

The Royals, seeded No. 4 in the division, advance to Friday’s second round when they will host No. 13 Palm Springs, 48-34 winners over Fullerton.

  1. Firebaugh is in Lynwood not Compton. May need to fact check before going to post.
