Carpinteria’s girls water polo team put on a tough and thrilling performance en route to a 10-9 overtime victory over Malibu on Wednesday afternoon.
Traveling to the “Shark Tank”, a historically difficult location for the Warriors, the team was able to come up victorious over the perennial Tri-Valley league powerhouse Sharks.
Another strong showing from junior Brenda Rodriguez was upstaged by senior co-captain Allison Wagner, who scored five goals for Carpinteria, including a jubilant game-winning score in the final overtime period.
On the defensive end of the pool, Sierra Garibay turned in a stellar effort with nine steals. Sophomore goalie Nicole Poulos made eleven saves for the Warriors, including a perfect five out of five while shutting down the Sharks’ offense during overtime.
