San Marcos’ youthful look was a winner on Tuesday as the Royals were able to give their reserves plenty of gametime in a 14-4 victory over Ventura.
Freshmen Jaymie Stryker, Piper Smith, Lili Akin and Sarah Owens made an impact on the game in the field. Stryker scored twice while Owens collected a team high in steals. Freshman backup goalie Sophie Trumbull made 11 saves playing the entire game.
Royals head coach Chuckie Roth credited senior Kelsey Gellert for guiding the young pups to victory.
San Marcos, now 3-0 in the league standings, travels to Santa Barbara on Thursday at 4 p.m.
